The Mayor of Sofia, Boyko Borisov, and the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani discussed investment possibilities in Bulgaria.
The two met Wednesday as part of the Emir's first trip to Bulgaria. Khalifa Al Thani and his wife Sheikha Mozah are paying a two-day official visit to the country at the invitation of President Georgi Parvanov.
After the meeting with Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Borisov spoke to reporters and defined the discussion as mutually beneficial. The Mayor said that the Qatar Investment Forum is showing strong interest in investing in Bulgaria, especially in the energy sector.
When asked to comment on the continuing waste war in Sofia, Borisov declined to offer any insight by saying that the whole thing was just a PR campaign for the Prime Minister, Sergey Stansihev.
