Bulgaria’s Tourism Sector Workers Stage Protest in Sofia
Representatives of the tourism industry will mount a protest in front of the Council of Ministers.
The scheduled protest rally of milk producers foiled Wednesday after only about 10 individuals showed up in front of the Agriculture Ministry building in downtown Sofia.
According to preliminary information, the rally was to begin at noon Wednesday and turn into a three-day tent camp.
One of the rally's organizers, Ivan Chalakov, from the Managing Board of the Milk Producers' Association told Darik radio that the protest plans fell through because the Association's leader, Adrian Tsakonski, failed to show up.
The few framers, who gathered in downtown Sofia, complained that the main reason for the demonstration's failure was the lack of resources, which deemed an obstacle for their colleagues to afford traveling to Sofia.
It remains unclear if the farmers would go on with their plan to protest Thursday.
In the mean time, farmers from Southern Bulgaria announced they were planning to block the main road Plovdiv-Svilengrad Wednesday.
