Farmers will rally once again in the Bulgarian capital on March 25 to demand more protection against falling incomes and year-round subsidies.
The Socialist-led Bulgarian government, worried by its plunging support before parliamentary elections, has so far yielded to demands for subsidies per cattle and liter of high quality milk. But farmers say the government has paid them nothing so far.
"We want Agriculture Minister Valeri Tsvetanov to stick by his promises. We have not been paid a stotinka so far," said a farmer from the region of Stara Zagora.
