Pope John Paul II will meet with the Jewish community in Bulgaria today at 5pm. Before that after the meeting with Patriarch Maxim in the Holy Synod, the Pope is having a rest in the Apostolic Nunciature. Emil Kalo, chairman of the Jewish organization Shalom said that there was no preliminary program for the meeting. Kalo recalled the gratitude, which the Pope expressed to the Bulgarian people for saving the Bulgarian Jews and the words of His Holiness that he had never believed in the so-called “Bulgarian connection”. “Both of these topics will be discussed at our meeting,” Kalo said. He shared his view that he saw in the visit of the Pope nothing else but positive signals.
