The UK intelligence service MI5 and MI6 are going to oppose a plan of the EU requiring them to share their information with all EU members because they are afraid states like Bulgaria or Hungary may leak it to third persons.
This was reported Wednesday by the UK newspaper The Daily Telegraph, which points out that the requirement to hand over information to the EU Joint Situations Center in Brussels, known as SitCen, might turn into a one-way flow information for the UK agencies.
"The difficulty with the EU is that it is a complex organisation and there are risks in sharing information with countries like Bulgaria or Hungary that it will end up in other hands", Paul Cornish, an expert in international security at the Chatham House think-tank, is quoted as saying.
According to The Daily Telegraph, many EU nations envy the special relations and cooperation that MI5 and MI6 enjoyed with the US intelligence services.
