Bulgaria's European Commissioner on Consumers' Protection Meglena Kuneva visited Saturday one of the worst quake-hit China's provinces, Sichuan.
"European businessmen have granted a total of EUR 100 M to help China's recovery after the strong tremors and the aftershocks that followed," Kuneva said in an interview for Darik Radio.
"Non-governmental organizations endowed about EUR 20 M and the EU member-states gave EUR 35 M," she added.
"Europe will continue helping China by providing further technical help," the commissioner explained.
The EU official emphasized that her visit to the country is mainly related to observing the way China observes the requirements for goods' production safety.
"China has adopted the European safety system. More than 700 toy production companies have been deprived from their licenses at the end of the last year," Commissioner Kuneva said.
