Dozens of relatives and friends gathered Thursday to pay their last respects to the writer Georgi Stoev, who was shot dead in the center of Sofia three days ago.

The funeral service took place in the chapel at Bistritsa graveyard.

Georgi Stoev, who created several books, describing the lives of notorious Bulgarian underworld bosses, was attacked Monday in front of the central Pliska Hotel.

He died hours after he was shot at the head by two unknown men.

Stoev was the author of the books "BG Godfather (The True Story of Madzho)", "BG Godfather-2: the Marguin, Boyko and the others", "BG Godfather-3: Lyuben Gotsev - the Real Godfather", etc.

His last work, called "Sacred Weddings", has not come off the press yet.

In a series of interviews, Stoev has repeatedly said he was once part of crime rings and threw light on events from the lives of the allegedly most powerful criminals in the country.
