Sofia Municipality has bought First City Hospital in the capital a modern ultrasound machine for ophthalmologic examinations, officials announced.
The apparatus will be presented to the hospital on Tuesday as the event will be attended by Mayor Boyko Borisov.
According to doctors, the machine is the first of its kind to start operating in a municipal hospital in the country.
The ultrasound test helps to evaluate the farthest part of the eyeball of patients with cataracts and is also used to diagnose retinal detachment and other disorders when ophthalmologists cannot use routine examining equipment.
