The five Bulgarian nurses, who were released from imprisonment in Libya, as well as Dr Zdravko Georgiev, arrived in Brussels on Wednesday at the invitation of European Parliament's President Hans-Gert Poettering.
The medics, who returtned home after more than eight years, spent in Libyan jail, are to meet the MEPs, who took active part in numerous initiatives in their cause's support.
Arriving at the European Parliament, the medics - Kristiana Vulcheva, Nassya Nenova, Valentina Siropoulo, Valya Chervenyashka, Snezhana Dimitrova, Dr Zdravko Georgiev and Palestinian Dr Ashraf al-Hajuj, who is now a Bulgarian citizen - received a warm welcome from Socialist Group President Martin Schulz and the Bulgarian members of the group.
In the framework of their visit, the nurses and the two doctors met Belgian Medics' Senate representative, politicians, senators and mayors.
