Sofia mayor Boyko Borisov threw his support for a series of events promoting healthy living that will be held in the Bulgarian capital on July 1.

Thousands of the city's residents are expected to join in a march from Sofia landmark National Palace of Culture towards the capital's South Park to popularise walking as a means of keeping in shape.

The day's events will include competitions that will be open to all entrants, as well as a concert by R&B band Upsurt and boys band Grupata.

The healthy living initiative is sponsored by foods group Nestle and will be held for a second straight year.
