Bulgaria is to receive EUR 7 B form the EU during the first seven years after the country's accession to the block, said the Head of the European Commission Representation Michael Humphreys on Wednesday.
"Bulgaria was ready to join the European family but still it faces a lot of challenges," Humphreys underlined.
He emphasized on the problems with the judiciary system, the corruption and the organized crime, which are Bulgaria's weakest points.
The commissioner mentioned the case of the five Libya-jailed Bulgarian nurses as one of the most important issues for the country, which is being also discussed in the EP, European Council and the European Commission.
"It is possible Belene NPP to get financing for meeting the security requirements," Michael Humphreys assured.
The Head of the European Commission Representation in Bulgaria is on a visit in Veliko Tarnovo on the occasion of town's holiday, which is to be marked on Thursday.
Michael Humphreys met Wednesday the mayor of the town and joined a student round table, dedicated to the 50th anniversary since signing the Roman Treaty for founding the European Economic Community.
