Just a day after the people in Northern Bulgaria sweated out their warmest January 10 ever, temperatures broke a new record on Thursday.

Highs stood at 13 C - 18 C, while lows varied from -1 C to 4 C.

On Wednesday the mercury zoomed up to the record-high 18,2 C in the town of Vidin. The latest record on this date was registered in 1992, when the temperature reached 16,5 C.

Temperatures in the town of Pleven beat the record from 1998, topping 16,5 C.

The winter has been unusually warm in the mountains as well, with barely a trace of snow flakes on the ground.
