Kate Middleton, Prince William's girlfriend has turned down the Queen's invitation to spend Christmas with the Royal Family.
Kate has declared she would accept an invitation of that kind only if and when she marries Prince William, friends of Middleton said as cited by Daily Mail.
Instead, 24-year-old Kate will spend Christmas with her family who will travel to Scotland.
Kate is said to be the first Royal girlfriend ever to be invited to the family's Christmas party. Certainly she is the first one to turn down such an invitation.
There have been rumours that the couple will get engaged over Christmas but friends of theirs have said that is unlikely.
Kate and William started dating in their second year at St. Andrews. She spent the summer at Balmoral as a guest of the Queen and she attended the Cheltenham Gold Cup with Prince Charles and Camilla.
