Security measures are the first thing that everybody takes into account in every sphere of modern life. Security, of course, is of prior concern to airports in the context of global terrorism. Some 135 passengers of Bulgaria Air found themselves without luggage in Moscow in the middle of the night. Out of security measures. A businessman on that flight probably lost money because the documents he needed for an important meeting were in his suitcase, which mysteriously failed to be loaded. Out of security measures.
In the case of the Sofia - Moscow flight, however, the security measures had little to do with something as global as terrorism. They had to do with the weight capacity of the plane and, believe it or not, with the poor weather conditions. But however limited the weight capacity of a Bulgaria Air plane is, it still could have taken half of the luggage. Or somebody could have at least bothered to tell the passengers that they will have to spend a day or two without changing or that they will have to spend some money on new outfits. The case with the "lost" luggage angered many of the passengers; still there were a few who were able to make jokes about it. After all, airliners do lose a bag or two but those who managed to lose the suitcases of all the passengers are really worthy of the Guinness. Out of security measures.
As a taxi driver told me last night, if the situation gets worse they will start making us get on the planes naked. Out of security measures.
