Sofia Hosts International Festival Cinemania 2006

Sofia has officially opened the 20th, jubilee Cinemania International Festival.

The official opening was celebrated with a concert featuring music from Italian composer Nino Rota. the Audience had the opportunity to hear music from the movies Amarcord, the Godfather and The Cheetah in Hall 1 of the National Palace of Culture.

The program of Cinemania for 2006 includes 72 movies. The festival expects 50 of them to be aired in Bulgaria especially for the occasion. The most awaited movie tape is Sofia Coppolla's movie Marie-Antoinette.

Pedro Almodovar's new movie Volver (Return), featuring Penelope Cruz will also premiere especially for the festival.

From Bulgarian part viewers may see Monkeys in Winter of director Milena Andonova and Iglika Trifonova's movie Investigation.
For the first time the Festival will be held in Sofia and Plovdiv at the same time.

The closing night will be on November 23.
