Bulgaria's lev closed at 1.9505/1.9510 per euro on Friday, firmer than 1.9511/1.9515 at Thursday's close as some banks sold the single currency to cover clients' dollar sales, dealers said, as qouted by Reuters. Against the dollar, the lev closed at 2.259/2.260, also firmer than Thursday's 2.263/2.264, reflecting euro/dollar exchange rate abroad through the lev/euro peg. Bulgaria pegged the lev at 1.95583 per euro from 1999 as part of its currency board system backed by the IMF.
