Heathstice

By Ivelina Puhaleva

While the whole of Europe stood amazed in the face of solar solstice one of most spectacular natural phenomenon, Bulgarian health sector have made a tentative move to drag itself out of their professional solstice. The wave of protests - only symbolic, alas - is to grab the country in the first days of April, on the background of anticipated brand new health strategy. It will for sure trace the direction of macro-development of the sector for the next ten years, but what about the next ten days? Would the cost of doctors' labour replace as a topic of discussion the cost of medicines? I guess, no. And please, do not be surprised to be sent off home from the hospital with the argument of insufficient drugs. The picture gets even sourer taste remembering on the five innocent nurses languishing innocent in a Libyan prison - how long would they stand for justice to triumph? Probably, Tripoli is waiting for an AIDS medicine to let this "quintet of hostages" go home and remedy their physical and mental health - why not wait until Monday and ask Prof Vittorio Colizzi coming to Sofia?
