World marked March 11, 2006 marked the second anniversary of the Madrid train bombings, which killed 192 people and left 1,500 injured. The Spanish prime minister attended a sombre wreath-laying ceremony in the Forest of Remembrance at noon, which was followed by a five-minute silence. Bulgaria also gave four victims in the bloody attacks that affected life of people from many countries.Some 116 suspects have been arrested in connection with the attacks, 24 of whom are in custody. The alleged mastermind and four other suspects are believed to have blown themselves up after being cornered in a shoot-out with the authorities. Islamic militants claimed responsibility for the attacks in the name of al-Qaeda, describing the bombings as revenge for the deployment of Spanish troops to Iraq and Afghanistan.
