So far 22 children have received aid through the the Bulgarian Christmas charity event.
Part of the money collected during the Bulgarian Christmas have been used for medicaments for a one-year treatment of 15 sick children. Eight of them suffering from nefrotic syndrom have been provided with specific medicines that will help them in coping with the illness.
Financial sources have been alloted for a costly medicine for a 6-month treatment of a child suffering from diabetes. Another five children with specific needs have been provided with medcines and special apparatuses with the financial sources from the charoty campaign.
The sum needed for the medical tests for the treatment of the 5-year-old Lyubcho have also been allotted, the President's office announced.
The record sum of over EUR 1 M was gathered by the charity initiative "The Bulgarian Christmas" held under the patronage of president Georgi Parvanov. Compared to the previous year, the initiative was a whooping success, as the amount was almost doubled.
Short text messages and phone calls at the cost of EUR 0.5 contributed to about half of the amount. EUR 600,000 was donated to the bank account opened for the initiative.
