The crew of the American space shuttle, Discovery, are preparing Tuesday to return to Earth after bad visibility in Florida forced a delay on Monday. Nasa hopes to bring the shuttle down at 1007 BST (0907 GMT) at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. If the weather remains a problem in Florida, the shuttle could land at air bases in California or New Mexico. The shuttle craft is at its most vulnerable as it descends; in 2002 Columbia disintegrated on re-entry. That disaster was caused by damage sustained when debris broke free during lift-off. Debris also broke free when Discovery was launched, but the crew made repairs in space and space agency officials say they are confident of a safe return this time.
