The Constitutional Court rejected the claim of Prosecutor General against the text in the Election Act envisaging an immunity for the candidates for members of Parliament during the election campaign. Three of the members of the court abstained. The clause in the Election Act stirred public agitation entailing a number of cases of lawmakers` involvement in dubious deals. Local media even pointed out that MP candidates number the population of a middle-scale town in Bulgaria. The Constitutional Court said that its decision complies with the Constitution of Republic of Bulgaria.
