Hilton Sofia and Traditzia Foundation are hosting an Egg-Painting Competition on the occasion of the upcoming Orthodox Easter festivities in a bid to support the socially underprivileged children in Bulgaria.
Easter eggs, trimmed with brocade, pieces of eggshells, hanging ornaments and others, will be exhibited from 23 April - 2 May 2005 in the hotel lobby, next to the entrance of Seasons Restaurant.
The participants, 100 children with special needs, aged from 10-14, come from different social homes and social day care centres in Bulgaria: the Social Professional School "Kniaz Boris" and the Social Day Care Centre "Sv. Mina" in Sofia; the Social Day Care Centre "Sv. Nikolay" in Burgas, the School for Children with Learning Disabilities in Sliven as well as the Home for mentally challenged children in Mezdra. Children from the Art Centre "Pri Izvora", Sofia, also participate in the competition.
The partners of the initiative have decided to recognize the most creative Easter egg painters and give out four awards.
The winners will be voted by a special jury, consisting of six members and including Mrs. Katie Hill, wife of His Excellency the British Ambassador Mr. Jeremy Hill, Grainne Murphy-Middleton, Member of the Managing Board of Traditzia Foundation, Sofia Echo publisher Christine Milner, painter Dimitar Hinkov and Friedrich W. Niemann, General Manager of Hilton Sofia.
