Bulgarian violin master Vasko Vassilev may be one of world musicians to be invited to perform at the royal wedding of Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles on April 6.
Bulgaria media reminded that the royal family has frequented the soloist performances of Vassilev at the Royal Opera House where he works as artistic director. Vasko is part of several Opera spectacles to run until the end of April, including "Die Walkure", "Fille Mai Gardee", "Enigma Triple Bill" and "Un Balo in Maschera."
This year's program of Vasko Vassilev includes also three concerts in Bulgaria - on May 17, 18 and 19, his spokesperson Petya Ivanova was quoted as saying.
The string virtuoso was born in Sofia in 1970. As a "wunderkind'", he enjoyed tremendous popularity and fame from the age of seven, in his native Bulgaria performing concerts and recording with major orchestras and top conductors.
Trained at the prestigious Central School of Music in Moscow, he also achieved early international success by winning top prizes at the Jacques Thibaud Competition, the Carl Flesch Competition and the Paganini International Competition in two successive years between the ages of 17 and 19.
