An impressive exhibition dedicated to the Bulgarian artist Christo and his wife Jeanne-Claude will be opened at the National Art Gallery in Washington at the beginning of 2002, BBC program “London start” announced. It will cover the artistic achievements of the famous couple in the last forty years. This long-awaited exhibition is Christo’s first solo exhibition in the United States and it includes a total of 61 works of art. In connection with the upcoming exhibition the gallery’s director Earl Powell said that Christo and Jeanne have created some of the most amazing works of art for the last one hundred years. The exhibition includes some of Christo’s most famous packed objects, collages, as well as photos of the couple’s projects. Among them are the packed Reichstag in Berlin, the eleven cloth-covered islands near Florida. The exhibition will be opened on February 3. In the autumn it will be shown at the Museum of Modern Art in San Diego.
