Beauty: Women's Hair over 40

Most women believe that they need to cut their hair short and wear a more conservative hairdo after turning 40.

Longer, sexy hair, however, is not a don't for the more mature ladies. The key to a sophisticated yet feminine look at that age is finding a good stylist and choosing the right conditioning products for your mane.

Excessively dry and dull hair is a turnoff whatever the age, and would certainly add a few more years to your expression. Leave perms, hair dying or other decolouration treatments to your hairdresser, and be persistent in conditioning between sessions.

Consult your stylist about what haircolour would match your complexion. Softer and natural-looking shades like chestnut or wheat blonde suit almost everyone, still, black or mahogany could make a statement with certain skin shades and eyecolour.

A sharp contrast between the colours of your hair and your skin tone is usually not recommended.

If you prefer a warm, brown to darker blonde palette for your hair, a little face-frame highlighting would soften your expression and make your eyes look brighter.
