Bulgaria's Footballers Victorious in Spain

Sports | December 29, 2004, Wednesday // 00:00

Bulgaria's full side beat Valenciana 2-1 in a friendly game played in Spain late on Tuesday.

International striker Dimitar Berbatov, 23, opened the score for Bulgaria, then Vladimir Mantchev fired in for 2-0.

Valenciana failed to outplay Bulgarian goalkeeper Stoyan Kolev from a penalty kick in the second half of the game, but then wringed out 1-2 in an overtime effort.

The result leaves Bulgarian coach Hristo Stoitchkov without a singles defeat since taking on the job.
