Bulgaria's Olympic shooter Maria Grozdeva was voted this year's top sportsperson in the Balkans, the Bulgarian News Agency disclosed Wednesday.
Seven official information agencies from the region took part in the survey.
Grozdeva, who swept a gold and a bronze medal in the Athens Olympics 2003, outplayed 18 other athletes who were nominated for the prestigious prize.
Following her Olympic triumph, Grozdeva also won the women world finals of 25m air pistol shooting held in Thailand in October.
