Bulgarian Gymnast Seeks Greek Olympic Revanche

Sports | October 27, 2004, Wednesday // 00:00

Bulgaria's best gymnast Yordan Yovchev is set to meet Olympic Gold winner Dimostenis Tambakos in a revanche performance, he announced Wednesday in Varna.

Yovchev's faultless performance at Olympics 2004 finals was neglected by the jury in favour of hosts' athlete Tambakos and recorded this year's Games with a bronze and a silver medal.

However, Yovchev was doubtful whether the Greek gymnast would accept the offer for revanche. A similar meeting is reportedly being arranged between the US and Korean athletes in Los Angeles over doubtful medal awarding during the Games, he said.

Varna-born Yordan Yovchev received Wednesday with an honorary plaque and a total of BGN 14,000 from the coastal city's mayor Kiril Yordanov.
