The best Bulgarian novel published in 2003 will be selected from six short-listed authors rivaling for a prize of USD 10,000 and a translation in English language.
The works of Hristo Karastoyanov (Utopia: The Other Way to Hell), Stefan Kisyov (The Executor), Konstantin Iliev (The Defeat), Kerana Angelova (Hellas Pino and The Time), Ivan Golev (Ouh! Love) and Dimitar Shumnaliev (Ferrodo).
The four-member jury of renowned Bulgarian writers and literature critics worked out the short list from a total of 66 books, all published over 2003.
However, the reading audience will have the decisive vote over the final winner by casting their nominee by mail.
The best novel contest was launched by initiative from the Vick Foundation.
