Another Bulgarian Enters Rowing Semi-Finals

Sports | August 17, 2004, Tuesday // 00:00

Bulgarian Ivo Yanakiev qualified for the semi-finals of the Olympics rowing events after ending first in the Men's Single Skulls with 6:52,51.

Statistics shows that Bulgaria's rowing champion has recorded the best time in his category of repechages.

Ivo Yanakiev is the second Bulgarian to reach the Athens 2004 regatta semi-finals after Rumyana Neikova stopped the watch at 7:35.68 minutes and was ranked first in her group on Saturday.

His greatest Olympic success so far was during the Sydney 2000 Games when Ivo ended fifth in the rowing events.

Despite Tuesday's start times being put back six hours, Olympics organisers are confident they can catch up prior to the weekend's finals.
