Spanish Prime Minister, who unexpectedly suffered defeat in last week's general elections, defended his Iraq position. Jose Maria Aznar said the decision of the incoming Socialist government to pull Spanish troops out of Iraq would benefit only the terrorists. Meanwhile four more people were jailed for involvement in the Madrid train bombings, as Spain prepared to hold a state funeral for the 202 victims of the bombings. Socialist leader and prime minister-elect Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero has pledged to pull out Spanish troops by June 30 unless the United Nations takes over from the US-led forces currently occupying Iraq.
