Unemployment rate in Bulgaria in September stood at 16, 4%, that is 0, 20% down on the August figures, the press center of the National Employment Office (NEO) announced. Sofia enjoys the lowest unemployment rate, 4, 45%. In the town of Turgovishte, situated in Northeastern Bulgaria, unemployment has reached its highest levels of 31, 75%. The drop in the rate can be explained with the seasonal employment in tourism, agriculture and construction sectors. The jobless women registered with the employment offices in September were 333, 474. The number of unemployed young people (under 24) was 90, 570. According to NEO there were 19, 520 vacancies which is 37, 5 % up in comparison with August figures. An average of 22 registered jobless people competed for one position.
