Security was high as Iraqis flocked to mosques for weekly prayers amid fears of a new wave of attacks while the coalition sped up its hiring of Iraqi security forces. Nerves were on edge in Baghdad, where the week -- and the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan -- started in bloodshed when a series of concerted car bomb attacks killed 43 people and wounded 200 more. Security was tight in the capital as Iraqis headed to mosques for Friday prayers. Further adding to the tension, US authorities warned Americans there were "rumors" of renewed threats in the Iraqi capital.
