Bulgarian Defense Minister Nikolay Svinarov and Lewis Moonie, Minister for Veterans` Affairs at the UK Ministry of Defense met on October 4 in Sofia. They discussed the assistance, which Britain provides for the Bulgarian Army reform Moonie is in Sofia for the NATO candidate countries` summit. Svinarov thanked for the assistance and the cooperation and expressed hope that Britain will continue to help in the Bulgarian military reform. Moonie said that the United Kingdom highly appreciates the steps towards change, initiated by Bulgaria and expressed satisfaction that Britain can help by sharing its own experience. The guest enquired about Bulgaria`s opinion on the situation in Macedonia, said the Defence Minister`s Press Attache Roumyana Strougarova. Moonie reiterated the British Government`s position that the UK backs the idea of NATO enlargement. The British Minister of State also expressed readiness for assistance in connection with the resettlement of redundant servicemen.
