Quake Hits Southern Iran

An earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale rocked southeastern Iran early Monday. The authorities had yet to establish if there was any major damage or casualties. The quake struck the district of Bam, southeast of the city of Kerman, at 7:58am local time. On July 11, two successive earthquakes measuring 5.6 and 5.8 on the Richter scale killed one person and injured 25 in southern Iran.
