Two trains have collided near a Rome station injuring about 10 people. Police said two intercity trains were involved in the accident near the Tiburtina station in the north-east of the city at about 08:30 (06:30 GMT). Reports said a locomotive and six train carriages left the rails, and toppled over. Fire engines and ambulances rushed to the scene through heavy rush-hour traffic. Initial reports said one person had died, but these were later dismissed by officials. According to them, one of the trains had failed to respond to a stop signal. Both trains were travelling slowly at the moment of impact. Police said they did not know the nationalities of the injured.
