At the request of the Stara Zagora District Prosecutor's Office, the court determined a custodial detention measure against a 30-year-old man for causing average bodily injury in a situation of domestic violence.
The husband's wife is subjected to systematic domestic violence. On February 27, once again in their home, the defendant had beaten the victim by breaking her left hand. She escaped with her relatives and sought help from the police. The husband was detained and the woman given medical help and treatment.
The 30-year-old man was found to be a criminal, but has not yet been convicted. The offense for which he has been charged has punishable "imprisonment" for a period of 2 to 10 years.
Stara Zagora District Court has estimated that the evidence gathered in the case can be a reasoned assumption that the man has committed the crime for which he has been charged as a defendant and there is a real risk of absconding or committing another crime.
The "detention on remand" measure taken against him may be appealed and protested before the Stara Zagora District Court.
