Tobacco producers from Dolno Osenovo hope that after the agreement with China, our country will start exporting from the raw material. They expect the purchase prices to change as they are currently low. This year's harvest will be good, despite the heavy rains and hailstorms, tobacco growers commented. However, they say that more and more young people give up farming and seek out livelihood in larger cities in the area.
About 1000 acres, cared for 240 families, are planted this year with tobacco in Dolno Osenovo. Biser Chavdarov, a producer in the area, grows about three acres, but says the money he gets from tobacco does not cover his expenses. Many people in the village even fail to pay their health and social security contributions. Last year the purchase price for the first category of tobacco was about 7 leva and the second one - 5 leva. People hope to offer better purchase prices this year because their quality is very good. Producers from the village hope that our country will be able to find tobacco markets abroad to allow more young people to enter the industry.
