Bulgaria: Bulgarian Red Cross Raising Funds over Hitrino Train Disaster

The Bulgarian Red Cross has launched a fundraising campaign to help people affected by Saturday's tragic incident in the northeastern village of Hitrino.

Seven people died and twenty-nine were injured after a dozen tanks loaded with propylene and liquefied petroleum gas derailed from a cargo train and one of them exploded in the center of Hitrino.

The BRC has published on its website [BG] the bank account and phone number which those willing to help affected residents may use.

The bank's IBAN, also seen above, is BG64UNCR76301078660913. BIC: UNCRBGSF (UniCredit Bulbank, 3 Kaloyan Str, 1000 Sofia, Bulgaria).

The phone number offered is 1466. Text messages from all mobile operators will cost a BGN 1 (VAT excluded).

Until now the number was used to collect funds for refugees.

Online donations can also be made - via Epay / Victoms of Disasters and Crises, through a debit or credit card, or through a Transcard BRC.
