Bulgaria: Macedonia’s Parliamentary Elections Campaign Begins BGNES

The campaign for the upcoming snap parliamentary elections in Madedonia on December 11 has oficially begun on Monday, reported BGNES.

These will be the ninth parliamentary elections since the country declared independence in 1991. A total of 11 parties and coalitions will take part in the elections.

A day before the start of the campaign, representatives of all political parties and coalitions signed an angreement on fair and democratic elections.

The agreement was signed by the leader of the Democratic Party for Macedonian National Unity ( VMRO - DPMNE) Nicola Gruevski, the Social Democratic Union of Macedonia ( SDSM) led by Zoran Zaev, the Democratic Union for Integration (DUI) and the Democratic Party of Albanians (DPA), represented by Menduh Thaçi.

The snap elections were called after the four leaders of the parties represented in Parliament reached an agreement to call elections in order to end the two-year political crisis which started at the beginning of 2015.

According to all polls, the ruling party VMRO-DPMNE is expected to win convincingly.
