The Bulgarian cabinet has approved the budget for this year's presidential elections and a referendum on the country's political system on October 06.
Funding for both polls will be secured from the central budget for 2016.
The referendum, proposed by popular TV host Slavi Trifonov, initially contained six questions on the political system, voting rules, state subsidies paid to parties and coalitions, and the election of heads of interior ministry directorates and district police departments.
However, Bulgaria's top court, referred to by President Rosen Plevneliev, slashed three of them, declaring them unconstitutional.
The three remaining questions are whether Bulgaria should adopt a majority electoral system, introduce compulsory voting, and cut party subsidies to BGN 1 per valid vote (down from BGN 11).
