A leak from a propane storage tank has triggered an evacuation of about 200 residents of Nikolaevo, a town in Stara Zagora Region, early on Wednesday.
Firefighters and Civil Defence teams put the gas leak under control by 6.45 a.m. Bulgarian time, Interior Ministry Chief Secretary Georgi Kostov told public TV broadcaster BNT.
Traffic on the nearby main road and railway in central southern Bulgaria linking Sofia and Burgas was suspended for several hours to avoid a possible explosion. Traffic resumed at about 8.00 a.m.
The gas storage tank is owned by a private company, BNT said.
