Turkey Backs Mark Rutte for NATO Secretary General Role
Turkey has thrown its support behind outgoing Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte for the position of NATO Secretary General,
Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has assured foreign investors that the country is stable amidst a three-month state of emergency declared after the July 15 failed coup attempt.
"I speak to international investors, don't be concerned about Turkey, this country is safe and secure," Anadolu Agency quoted Erdogan as saying on Tuesday before representatives of global companies in Ankara.
Erdogan also said that there were no interventions in the economy because of the state of emergency.
"All doors will be open to every investor, Turkey has big aims and potentials to reach [its] aims," Erdogan said, according to the Turkish news agency.
Anadolu also quoted Erdogan as saying that the failed coup attempt hadn't been masterminded and planned inside Turkey but was ‘orchestrated abroad.’
The Turkish government has repeatedly accused U.S.-based cleric Fethullah Gulen of organizing the July 15 coup attempt. Gulen has dismissed the accusations.
