Turkey to Extend State of Emergency By 3 Months
Turkey's Deputy PM Numan Kurtulmus said on Tuesday the state of emergency in force since July would be extended by three months.
At least 60 people have been killed in Turkish capital Ankara, President Erdogan's office has announced.
Earlier, 42 deaths were reported, of which 17 police officers, according a spokesperson for the prosecutor's office quoted by the BBC.
Latest reports by state Anadolu Agency suggest at least 16 people involved in the attempt have been killed in clashes at a police command, but it is not clear whether this number is included in or added to the death toll.
Some of the victims are thought to have been in front of Parliament's building in ANkara at a time bombings were heard there.
Reuters meanwhile reports as many as 13 soldriers have been arrested while trying to storm the presidential palace.
An emergency meeting of Parliament has been scheduled in Ankara for 12:00, GMT.
