Korneliya Ninova, the recently elected leader of the socialist opposition in Bulgaria, begins a two-day visit to Moscow on Sunday, the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP)'s press office says.
Ninova was earlier invited to head a BSP delegation to attend the 15th congress of United Russia, the ruling party in the country whose former leader is President Vladimir Putin.
The socialist leader, who like her predecessors advocates rapprochement with Russia despite EU sanctions imposed over the developments in Ukraine, will attend the same round table discussion ("World in 2016. Challenges and Threats") has Georgi Parvanov, the leader of rivaling ABV party.
Left-wing ABV, headed by Parvanov, splintered off the BSP in 2014.
Parvanov, who served as Bulgaria's President between 2002 and 2012, announced on Saturday he would also be attending.
Unlike the BSP and ABV, United Russia embraced a rather conservative ideology late in the 2000s.
