At its regular meeting on Wednesday, the Bulgarian government made additional changes to the Transport and Transport Infrastructure Operational Programme for the 2014-2020 programme period as a bill for approval by the European Commission.
With a decision of the government from November last year, three important infrastructure projects were included within the scope of the programme.
These projects concern the completion of the western arc of Sofia ring road, additional works to the project for rehabilitation of the Plovdiv-Burgas railway line and extension of the section of the third metro line in Sofia.
The changes foresee redistribution of the annual allocations under the European Regional Development Fund without altering the total amount for the period.
The initially approved EUR 16.5 M for this year have been increased by EUR 25 M to cover for the expenditures on the three additional projects.
To compensate for the increase in 2016, the allocations foreseen for each of the next three years have been decreased by EUR 8.3 M.
These measures ensure the implementation of the projects which are of exceptional importance for the development of infrastructure in Bulgaria.
