Is Bulgaria Ready to Join the Eurozone?
Bulgaria's aspirations to become the 21st member of the Eurozone have sparked discussions regarding the country's economic readiness, as well as its political and institutional preparedness
Expansion of economic cooperation and opening of new opportunities in the labour market were in the focus talks of Switzerland’s Secretary of State for Economic Affairs Marie-Gabrielle Ineichen-Fleisch with Bulgarian cabinet ministers, the government in Sofia said on Wednesday.
Ms Ineichen-Fleisch discussed the potential for further increasing investment and trade between the two countries with Deputy Prime Minister for European funds and economic policy, Tomislav Donchev, and Labour Minister Zornitsa Rusinova, according to a statement from the government press office.
Tomislav Donchev confirmed Bulgaria’s willingness to expand the agenda for bilateral cooperation and tap into Swiss expertise in dual education, a system pairing hands-on training with classroom learning to give young people an advantage in the labour market.
At the meeting, representatives of Swiss businesses accompanying Ms Ineichen-Fleisch on her visit to Sofia presented a survey among Swiss SMEs, which make up about 90% of their country’s economy. According to the survey, priority areas of interest for Swiss investment in Bulgaria include transport, generation and transmission of electricity, environment protection, industry and services.
