Fitch Ratings, a leading credit rating agency, has affirmed Bulgaria's Long-Term Foreign-Currency Issuer Default Rating at 'BBB' with a Positive Outlook
The 50-year-old Severin Vasilev from the Bulgarian town of Devin made on Sunday 4133 sit-ups in 2 hours 56 minutes and 16 seconds.
Vasilev, who is a firefighter and swimming instructor, will apply for his achievement to be recognised as a Guinness World Record. He made made his attempt in front of a doctor and three-member jury.
The Bulgarian is trying to break the records for the quickest series of sit-ups as well as the one for the largest number of sit-ups.
The current record held by Bulgarian over the age of 45 is 720 sit-ups in 46 minutes, while the world record for most sit-ups is 2100.
Vasilev, who has worked as lifeguard and is volunteer to the water rescue service of the Bulgarian Red Cross, made his first 1000 sit-ups in slightly over 38 minutes.
He calls on youth to do more sports and be more physically active rather than staying in front of the computer as this is harmful for their health.
In April, Bulgaria set a Guinness World Record for the largest human DNA helix, achieved by students from the Medical University of Varna.
