Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov on Wednesday approved the resignation of Ivan Asparuhov, Deputy Minister of Regional Development, and several regional governors appointed by the ABV party.

Earlier, Deputy Sports Minister Nina Naydenova was also dismissed.

Alternative for Bulgarian Revival (ABV), a leftist party that had been a government ally to Borisov since the autumn of 2014, announced on Tuesday it would withdraw its support for the cabinet, with Deputy Prime Minister resigning.

ABV also made clear it would withdraw all appointments to executive offices made after it entered the government.

Under the decree signed by Borisov, Nikolay Petrov, Yavor Yanchev, Petar Petrov, and Emil Atanasov (all appointed from ABV's quota) are not deputy regional governors of Veliko Tarnovo, Ruse, Montana and Sofia Region respectively.
