Inside Bulgaria's Easter Celebrations: Traditions Passed Through Generations
Today marks the joyous celebration of Easter, one of the most significant holidays in the Orthodox Christian calendar.
Bulgaria plans to build a video surveillance system at its border with Serbia to prevent a possible increase in outbound crossing by irregular migrants, bTV broadcaster reported on Tuesday.
The new system will have two or three observation posts located near the Bulgarian border town of Dragoman. It will be similar to the video surveillance system built between Lesovo and Malko Tarnovo, on Bulgaria’s border with Turkey at the cost of EUR 16.6 M to restrict the flow of irregular migrants and refugees.
The procurement tender for the new video surveillance system will be called most likely in early 2017, bTV said.
Last week, Defence Minister Nikolay Nenchev reaffirmed Bulgaria’s readiness to erect a wire fence along its border with Greece in preparation for a possible increase in migration pressure after the closure of the Western Balkan route to migrants and refugees. Bulgaria had built a wire fence at sections of its border with Turkey but has no fence at the border with Greece.
Bulgaria and Serbia have agreed to help each other monitor and control the migration flow across their territories and share relevant information.
